MULTIGENRE!

Wow!  What an amazing group of ladies!  The many directions and roads we traveled tonight!  This presentation just goes to show what a wonderful way to present a research project… All were so engaging and enlightening!  Jennfer M. - Loved the box and the idea that it could have come from someone’s attic,..hidden away.  Great! Your artifacts looked so real. I think that really gave it an authentic feeling.  Loved your shape poem, too!  Very well done..and original.  Heather - I loved how you presented your multigenre with the sea turtle cover!  Very original… I learned so much in such a short time.  Well done!  Holly- This story on Ada Byron was a great angle, and I loved how you challenged yourself choosing something that wasn’t an interest or a passion.  I could tell, though, that you came to own and enjoy what you did with this.  Pulling it together with the computer generated music was perfect.  To think of how great her mind was! Great!  Toni - like I said…you are a dancer!  You should be proud of yourself that you challenged yourself in that way and you definitely rose to the occasion.  You did a beautiful job and the poem for two voices was very well done.  Amy…fellow NASCAR fan…great job and wonderful display.  The trophy was great… and the book you created for your classroom.  You have made a great connection for your boys… It was very appealing and well done!  Nicole - Great job and very informative on Edgar Allan Poe… Lots of information I had no idea in regards to his history.  I really liked how you put it all together for your presentation.  Well done!  Sonia - love your butterflies!  You have created more than a model for your students, it will be an inspiration.  It is so beautiful how you put all your displays together and kudos on the ABC book!  Well done!  Christy - A whole lot of shaking going on!  That was great.  Again, you really said you didn’t have a real connection to Elvis, but you wouldn’t have known it if you wouldn’t have told us!  I learned a lot about the “King” that I didn’t know.  The concert picture and ticket was a great touch!  You really covered his life well.  Your side-kick was the perfect touch!  Well done!

I am so impressed with the variety and the many forms of genres all of you chose do to for your presentations.  You can tell everyone put their heart and soul into this project and the results were fantastic.  I have never enjoyed a class presentation like I have this one.  It has been a wonderful learning experience and I can see “all the places we will go” with multigenre in our own classrooms.  How exciting for all of us!  Thank you, Dr. Frye, for sending us down this road!!  Kari

February 11, 2008 - “Just another manic Monday..”

Hello, fellow bloggers!  Good news for the weekend - Appalachian will be playing LSU their first game of the season!  Yeah!  Probably not a Michigan repeat, but will be an interesting game.  And, of course, Jr. wins the Shootout!  Wonder what Theresa was thinking when he crossed that finished line?  The bad news - I have been “lucky” enough to join many of my fellow colleagues and students - I now have some kind of bug… a headache that just doesn’t want to go away.  Spent most of yesterday in bed.  Went to school anyway, and made it through the day.  Now on to blogging, then to bed!  Nite all!

Back at it…

The weekend break was much needed!  I spent most of it at the beach.  It was cold, rainy, and….well, mostly cold!!  It doesn’t matter what the weather, the ocean always brings a peace and calm to my otherwise hectic world!  I’m enjoying the assignments so far - It is nice stirring up my imagination once again.

Hello world!

Well….never did I think that I would be become a “blogger.”  Is that the correct tag?  But here I am!  I’m sitting here looking out the window at the beautiful blanket of snow covering the ground.  Our peach trees down in the orchard look like they have been frosted!  Originally from Upstate New York, I truly haven’t missed the snow that much, but I really appreciate its beauty now that it only appears here every now and again.  I appreciate three inches of snow vs. three feet of snow even more! Anyway…I’m off to try and decorate my new “space.”  Later……..K.
